Questions that do not resolve, taken slowly anyway.
Meditations in the older sense of the word. Not reverie: a fixed set of questions taken in order and followed wherever they lead. Aurelius used the title that way, and so did Descartes, for the discipline of examining something from the inside and reporting honestly what is found there. These essays turn that method on spirit and self. What devotion is actually doing, what the traditions were built to carry across centuries, and what survives contact with a machine that can talk about all of it fluently and may mean none of it. The rigor is not the opposite of the reverence. It is how the reverence stays honest.
